Oil and gas
Oil and gas are in many cases produced in locations with extreme ambient temperatures. The technology used in arctic regions must withstand temperatures down to -60° C, or it must function reliably in tropical climes at temperatures ranging up to 90° C. Sensitive electrical control devices and components for transmission of signals or energy must be protected by means of appropriate enclosure technology in order that they do not suffer any damage. Natural and fuel gases, and also combustible liquids such as gasoline and oil, are also explosible substances. Contact with possible ignition sources must therefore be avoided under all circumstances during production, decanting/transfer and transportation of these substances.
