No Chance for Corrosion

Electronic components on ships must operate reliably even under harsh weather conditions. Seawater-resistant enclosures from ROSE Systemtechnik ensure maximum safety: they protect installations against water, chemicals, salt, oils, and UV radiation. Shipbuilders benefit from solutions tailored precisely to their requirements.

ROSE manufactures a wide range of seawater-resistant enclosures made of stainless steel and aluminium for water-exposed applications. These products are ideal for shipbuilding, offshore industries, maritime research, and port infrastructure. They are also used in coastal protection and swimming pool facilities. All enclosures meet the stringent requirements of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping and the certification body DNV.

ROSE stainless steel enclosures are made from CrNiMo steel (V4A) and, thanks to their exceptional corrosion resistance, do not require any further surface treatment. Aluminium enclosures, on the other hand, undergo an immersion process with chromium(III) oxide, creating a passivation layer. This oxide coating separates the metal from its environment, effectively preventing corrosion.

ROSE seawater-resistant aluminium enclosures are available as SWB, SBG, and SBGL models. After passivation, SWB enclosures receive a polyester powder coating, SBG enclosures are primed with a 2K-thick layer primer, and SBGL versions are finished with a top coat and hardener. Following this, the enclosures undergo a salt spray test in accordance with EN ISO 9227.

As equipment options for its corrosion-resistant enclosures, ROSE offers seawater-protected earthing points as well as high-quality PU foam, neoprene, and silicone cord seals. With these seals, the standard protection level of the enclosures can be increased up to IP69K. This seawater-resistant corrosion protection is also available for ROSE defence technology enclosures as well as explosion-proof designs. ROSE Ex enclosures and control stations are ATEX and Ex i certified. Additional Ex approvals (IEC Ex/UL-Ex/UKCA Ex/INMETRO/PESO/IA) can be provided if required.

In addition to surface treatments, ROSE also carries out mechanical processing. Options include customised engraving, welding on external brackets, welding on threaded bolts, producing threaded holes, and thread cutting.
